Preschool phonology groups are for 3-5 year-old children with speech impairments. The groups meet M-Th mornings. In these groups children acquire important speech sounds and production skills in the context of fun, game-based activities.
Our inclusive preschool is for children ranging in age from 3 to 5 years, with an emphasis placed on language and early literacy and numeracy skills that are important for successful learning and reading during the early school years. Language and play form the basis of the curriculum, as children are provided with a rich variety of opportunities for learning important cognitive and problem-solving skills, motor coordination, self-help, and social skills.
Our toddler groups are play-based and include children in the 18 months-36-month age range. The groups are structured to help young children develop communication, language, motor, and social emotional skills. Program activities provide children with support to facilitate participation in defined activities such as art, music, story time, and social interactions.
Supplemental Services for Children with Autism
Individual Speech Therapy focuses on children's unique needs. Goals to achieve functional communication are primary targets. Children also work on increasing initiations and joint attention with their communication partners. Sessions are child-directed with adults arranging the environment to support communication interactions. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend each session in order to learn strategies and support generalization of skills.
Individual Therapy Packages
Individual session packages are available for children up to the age of 5 years who have speech and language needs and/or developmental concerns. These can be combined with either the preschool or toddler programs.
Summer Articulation Boot Camp
An intense eight week "boot" camp to improve speech intelligibility, that is, articulation and/or phonological concerns for toilet trained children between the ages of 3 and 6 years of age. Please contact Kathie Smith at 480-965-9396 for registration and fee information.
Summer Preschool Program for Early Literacy and Language: SPELL
Summer Program for Early Literacy and Language (SPELL) is an educational summer program designed to boost the oral language and early literacy skills through dynamic and fun activities. The curriculum includes lots of engaging learning activities that address speech, language, and literacy for children with typical development and those with developmental challenges.
Home Based Early Intervention
Home Based Early Intervention is available for infants and toddlers that qualify for services through the Arizona Early Intervention Program. A certified early childhood educator or a certified/licensed Speech Language Pathologist provides services in the child’s natural environments (e.g., home, childcare) in order to promote development during everyday activities.
